J’étais le 19 avril dernier, dans le cadre du groupe de travail que je préside au sein du PSE, « Social Network », à Amsterdam, où se réunissaient les ministres des Affaires sociales. Ce sommet a été l’occasion de rencontrer les ministres socialistes pour travailler sur des propositions concrètes pour les jeunes : un Plan pour la Jeunesse, afin qu’une génération entière ne soit pas sacrifiée par une crise économique et sociale dont l’Union peine à sortir.

PES Ministers committed to fair mobility
On the 8th of March, following consistent and intense pressure from the PES family, the European Commission published its proposals for the revision of the posted workers directive. Welcoming the opening of this process, PES Employment and Social Affairs Ministers reiterated their commitment to addressing regulatory gaps, ensuring equal treatment and to strengthening freedom of movement, fair competition and fair labour standards in Europe.
Luxembourg Minister Nicolas Schmit, Chairperson of the PES Social and Employment Ministers Network, said: “Now is the time to renew our core engagement for fairer mobility. Our approach does not allow for the discrimination of workers, nor for their exploitation. We are strongly committed to non-discrimination, equal pay for equal work, access to social security, strong social standards and the protection of all workers’ rights. Fair mobility prevents social dumping and competition for the lowest standards, it ensures the protection of all workers and strengthens our freedom of movement.”
At the beginning of the meeting, MEP Pervenche Berès, Chairperson of the PES Social Europe Network presented the new flagship project of the PES, the PES European Youth Plan. At this occasion, Pervenche Berès stated “With our European youth plan we want to create decent employment for Europe’s youth, to promote active and critical citizenship and to guarantee equal opportunities in life starting from early childhood onwards. Investing in youth, in quality education and in quality jobs is the way forwards.”
